Children's Ministries

Nursery: (Baby's Nest) We have a  nursery that can be used during our Sunday Morning worship service, which is designed for infants and toddlers.

Children's Worship: During the second half of our worship service we offer a special service for younger elementary school aged children, which includes a biblically based lesson, games, crafts, music and a snack.

Sunday School: Following worship we have classes for all ages from preschool through high school that focus on age specific biblical teaching. The Sunday school begins at 11:00am and concludes at Noon.

Teen Ministries

Baptist Youth Fellowship (B.Y.F.): We offer opportunities for teens (grades 9 and up) to get together for fun, worship, and service. The teens grow in their faith through the year in weekly meetings and activities, as well as retreats and special events.  Each year, the youth group participates in the Fast for Famine.  The youth leader is Georgina DeRoehn.

Junior Youth Fellowship: The Junior BYF which meets once every 4 - 6 weeks, is for children in grades 4-8 and is led by David Mason.

Adult Ministries

Sunday Morning Bible Study:   We meet each Sunday morning at 11:00AM in the Pastor's office for a time of discussion and Bible study.  Our topics each week will coincide with the sermon.  Come to explore and ask questions. Everyone is welcome to attend at any time, there is no need to register for the Bible Study.

Men's Fellowship: All men are invited to attend the monthly breakfast usually on the third Sunday of each month at 8:00am in the church vestry and to work on church and mission projects.

Women's Fellowship "Friendly Guild": All women are invited to attend monthly meetings, which consist of devotions, programs on a variety of subjects, food, and fellowship. We raise money at our "Holly Day Bazaar' to fund church and mission projects. We also maintain a church library for children and adults. The Guild meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, September through June.

Choir: Our adult choir is designed for all adults that enjoy singing. We rehearse weekly on Thursdays at 7 PM and lead in both our regular and special worship service through the year. Our Choir Director is Jennifer Hartnett.

Transition Prayer Group:  Please join us on Sunday Mornings from 9:00-9:20AM for a time of prayer and discernment as our church seeks God's choice for our next pastor.  We meet in the Vestry.

Outreach Ministries

Food Pantry: The food pantry at the Avon Baptist Church was established in the early 1990's.  Originally it was stocked by the congregation, but now it is supplied through donations from church members, town residents, Avon Co-op Bank, Council on Aging, collection by the Avon Post Office in May, cub scouts, girl scouts, Avon Public Schools, library and other community organizations.  We service an average of 20 families from Avon each month. If you find yourself in need of assistance and are an Avon resident,  contact the church office.   The Food Pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am to Noon.  Please call first at (508) 583-8076 so your order will be ready for pick up.

International & Local Missions: We care deeply about missions and contribute generously to them; we support a wide range of ministries locally and around the world.

Ham and Bean Suppers: We offer a traditional Ham and Bean supper on the second Saturday of each month from September - May. The community is invited for this time of food and fellowship that is available for a nominal cost.

Flea Market: Each Saturday from May to October, our parking lot becomes a common meeting ground for the community.

Eucumenical Luncheon: On the 3rd Wednesday of each month from September to May, we offer a Eucumenical Luncheon for Senior Citizens in the area. There is a worship service in the vestry at 11:30 AM followed by a delicious luncheon.

Avon Community Christmas Fund:  The Avon Baptist Church is the coordinator for the Avon Community Christmas Program, which is a very vital outreach program for the Avon Community.  During the Christmas season we help make Christmas wishes come true.  Individuals from both St. Michael's Church and the Avon Baptist Church, purchase the specific wishes of children and seniors.  Monetary donations that we receive help prepare holiday food boxes for our senior residents and help purchase food gift cards for the families whose children we help.

Avon Nursery School: We offer a quality pre-school education to the children of the community.
