Children’s Ministries
Nursery: (Baby’s Nest) We have a nursery designed for infants and toddlers that can be used by parents during our Sunday Morning worship service.
Sunday School: Every two weeks from September to the second week in June, we have classes that focus on age-specific biblical teaching for children from preschool through high school. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. and ends at 10:30 and is conducted at the same time as Sunday worship.
Teen Ministries
Baptist Youth Fellowship (B.Y.F.): We offer opportunities for teens (grades 9 and up) to get together for fun, worship, and service. The teens grow in their faith through the year in weekly meetings and activities, as well as retreats and special events.
Junior Youth Fellowship: The Junior BYF meets once every 4 – 6 weeks and is for children in grades 4 – 8.
Adult Ministries
Morning Bible Study: We meet each Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. in the Pastor’s office for Bible study. Our topics each week coincide with the sermon. Come to explore and ask questions. Everyone is welcome to attend at any time, there is no need to register for the Bible Study.
Wednesday Evening Bible Study: We meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for Bible study. Topics each week coincide with the sermon given on Sunday.
Men’s Fellowship: All men are invited to attend the monthly breakfast to work on church and mission projects, on the fourth Sunday of each month at 8:00 a.m. in the church vestry.
Women’s Fellowship “Friendly Guild”: All women are invited to attend monthly meetings, which consist of devotions, programs on a variety of subjects, food, and fellowship. We raise money at our “Holly Day Bazaar’ to fund church and mission projects. We also maintain a church library for children and adults. The Guild meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, September through June.
Choir: Meets for practice after worship on the second Sunday of the month and sings during worship on the third Sunday.
Outreach Ministries
Food Pantry: The food pantry at the Avon Baptist Church was established in the early 1990’s. Originally it was stocked by the congregation, but now it is supplied through donations from church members, town residents, community organizations, and local businesses. We service an average of 20 families from Avon each month. If you find yourself in need of assistance and are an Avon resident, contact the food pantry at 508-857-0452 to schedule an appointment. The Food Pantry is available by appointment only and is generally open on Tuesday.
World & Local Missions: We care deeply about missions and contribute generously to them supporting a wide range of ministries locally and around the world.
Flea Market: Each Saturday from May to October, our parking lot becomes a common meeting ground for the community. For information call Dave Mason at 774-240-0034.
Ecumenical Luncheon: On the 3rd Wednesday of each month from September to May, we offer an Ecumenical Luncheon for senior citizens in the area. There is a worship service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. followed by a delicious hot luncheon.
Avon Community Christmas Fund: The Avon Baptist Church is the coordinator for the Avon Community Christmas Program, which is a very vital outreach program for the Avon Community. Individuals from both St. Michael’s Church and the Avon Baptist Church purchase the specific wishes of children and seniors. Monetary donations help prepare holiday food boxes for our senior residents and help purchase food gift cards for the families whose children we help.
Avon Nursery School: We offer a quality pre-school education to the children of the community.
